Interaksi Simbolik dalam Pertunjukan Kesenian Tari Sintren di Cirebon

Abstract

One of the legendary performing arts in Javanese society, especially in Cirebon, is the performing art of the Sintren dance. This dance is full of mystical nuances, because it is said that this dance involves the role of spirits. This paper is a description of the symbolic interaction in the Sintren dance performance in Jemaras Kidul village, Klangenan district, Cirebon regency. The purpose of this paper is to describe the symbolic interaction process that occurs in the Sintren dance performance in Jemaras Kidul village, Klangenan district, Cirebon regency. This study uses a qualitative method using the theory of interactionism by Herbet Mead. The results show that the symbolic interaction process that occurs in the Sintren dance performance can be found in the meaning according to the audience and the Sintren dance performers, the process or stages of the Sintren dance performance, the application of meaning in everyday life, clothing, accessories, the development of Sintren dance, and Sintren dance function.
