Konstruksi Sosok Paus dalam Film The Two Popes

Abstract

The Pope is the Supreme Leader of Catholicism and the Head of the Vatican State. The Pope's figure in carrying out his duties and responsibilities behind the walls of the Vatican is told in The Two Popes. The purpose of this research is determining the construction of The Pope in the film. This research uses qualitative descriptive research. The research method in this research is content analysis using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics. The results showed the picture of the Pope constructed by the clothing used, supporting properties around the Pope, the location of the shooting, as well as those around the Pope. In addition, this film presents a picture of the Pope that is different from other mass communication products, by showing the good or bad sides of the Pope.
